The interior design of this apartment located in Palermo neighborhood was made in order to be used as temporary rental accommodation. The first elements defining the space, at request of the clients, were the three Grand Confort sofas (Petit Modèle): Therefore, the sofas determined the principle. Principle of reduction. Reduction as cause and reduction as rule. The ideal of geometry became form and function. The square was the structure to design all the furniture. The repetition of this figure acquired thickness, which was in turn changed into volume, shaping tables, sideboards, beds, stools. These volumes were treated with unitary materiality, Zebrano veneer or white lacquer. Simplicity and unity defined the selection of lamps and curtains. Thus, the principle of reduction, which is an absences game, becomes inner architecture to induce the variable guests to experience what is permanent and timeless.
